Julio Cesar Chavez and Oscar de la Hoya taught boxing to thousands of Mexicans in the massive class that took place on Sunday in the Historic Center of Mexico City.

The boxing legends were in front of 42,000 Mexicans of all ages, who painted the capital’s Zocalo square green, white and red.

The ‘Great Mexican Champion’ and ‘Golden Boy’ showed their best moves, and were seen smiling in front of the fans who attended the event organized by the federal government.

De la Hoya thanked the participation of Mexicans in the National Boxing Class and invited them to say: “no to addictions; yes to boxing”.

Sport for peace and against addictions

The Nacional Boxing Class was part of the activities of the Attention to the Causes axis of Mexico’s National Security Strategy. In addition to being held in the Zocalo of Mexico City, it was also held in the public squares of the other 31 states.

“Mexican youth say: ‘No to violence, no to addictions’. The people of Mexico say: ‘No to racism, no to classism, no to machismo’. The people of Mexico say: ‘Yes to education, yes to sports, yes to peace, yes to love'”, said President Claudia Sheinbaum during the event.
