Juan Soto shuts up fan who insulted him in Spring Training game: “Overpaid, overrated!”

The time has come to prove the reasons for his arrival to theNew York Mets, but Juan Soto takes it easy, especially when he is rudely demanded from the stands. It is well known that when there is high expectation there must be arguments to surpass it, and for the Dominican everything from now on is to do his job and fulfill all that the fans of the Queens ninth expect from him.

Soto’s silencing home run

And he did so last Monday when the Mets faced the St. Louis Cardinals at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter, Florida, hitting a wild home run over the right field after a fan yelled at him from the grass seats.

The fan who shouted at the Dominican “overpaid, overrated” soon got his comeuppance, and arguably in dramatic fashion. After Soto only turned to look him in the eye when he was on defense in right field, it was the Mets’ turn to bat, the former Yankee came to the plate and what had to happen happened.

Soto hit a solid shot that flew through the air and landed practically in the face of the fan who had annoyed him so much in the so-called ‘Party Deck’ of the Florida venue, and who by the way could not even catch the ball. In the end, the Mets won the game by a shutout, 8-0.

Juan Soto does his thing

Soto’s Spring Training record gives everyone hope, as behind Francisco Lindor in the batting order, he is 8-for-18 with three home runs, six RBIs and two walks.

At least for today, the $765 million the Mets paid to acquire Soto’s services is more than justified, and that’s precisely what is expected of him, although not exactly with that kind of ‘motivation’.
