Juan Soto didn’t help the Mets at all, who were left in the lurch after a nightmare weekend

Nightmare visit for the New York Mets to Pittsburgh. The team commanded by manager Carlos Mendoza had one of its worst outings so far this season where not a single player is saved from the reprehensible performance this weekend at PNC where they were swept 3-0 and in addition to that, the sum of the three scores gives a difference of 30 runs to 9 in favor of the Pirates.

Last Friday, this debacle began with a 9-1 defeat. For the metropolitan fans, it was expected to be just “a bad night” and the next day they would have a better performance. In fact, Juan Soto, who had been performing well in the batter’s box, ended that game with a disastrous 0-4 with three strikeouts. All players have bad outings, but they were confident of coming out on top in the following games.

Pittsburgh Pirates crush New York Mets

The tone at the start of the series between the Pirates and Mets was the same for Saturday’s game. There were even storm clouds over PNC Park that threatened to suspend the game due to a thunderstorm. But as if it were an omen, the weather improved in the following minutes to celebrate the second game of the weekend, where Pittsburgh took advantage of the New Yorkers’ confusion and again scored nine runs against an inoperative New York Mets offense.

Both Juan Soto and his teammates should shake off 18 runs in two games and close the series in Pittsburgh in a decent manner. However, the New York Mets were still in KO mode where Sunday’s game was the worst disaster so far for Carlos Mendoza’s team, after receiving double-digit runs: 12. In total, the New York Mets received 30 runs in three days.

New York Mets return to Citi Field to face New York Yankees

Both Juan Soto and the rest of the New York nine will have to quickly forget the thrashing in Pittsburgh. This week, the New York Mets return home for two very important series. From Tuesday, July 1 to Thursday, July 3, they will host the Milwaukee Brewers to try to improve their offensive and defensive performance because the following weekend they will host the most important series of the season: the New York Yankees.

Citi Field will host the “Subway Series” on Independence Day, where the New York teams will arrive as two of the most powerful teams in MLB and a perfect time to regain the confidence that the Pirates have stolen from the New York Mets.
