Welcome to the 1,000 club! New York Mets superstar Juan Soto reached another historic milestone and joined the select group of MLB players at the age of 26. For the next 15 years, New York Mets fans can expect to see many record-breaking performances from Juan Soto, who this afternoon hit his 1,000th career hit.

The feat occurred on Thursday night when the slugger hit a single to right field off Atlanta Braves starter Spencer Strider in the first inning to reach the mark. According to a statistic first published by USA Today columnist Bob Nightengale, Soto’s milestone put him in a select group of MLB royalty. Soto is now one of three players to reach 1,000 hits, 200 home runs and 700 walks in his career before turning 27. The other two players? Mel Ott and Mickey Mantle, both New York baseball legends.

Juan Soto’s career promises to be one of the most individually decorated

The first 73 games of Soto with the Mets have been a roller coaster for fans. While he has struggled at times, Soto has improved lately, raising his batting average from .230 to .248. But it is the “Soto effect” that benefits the team the most, even if his statistics are not exactly career statistics. And even when the outfielder’s bat is on fire, the Mets’ winning percentage is 89.3%. Not for nothing, until a couple of weeks ago, the metropolitan team boasted the best record in MLB in the current campaign.

They are currently leading the National League East Division with a 45-30 record, tied with the same figures with the Philadelphia Phillies. They are only surpassed by the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have a 46-29 record. At the moment, the team with the best record of the 2025 season is the Detroit Tigers with 48 wins and 28 losses.

Who is the all-time MLB hit leader?

To talk about hitting 1,000 hits in almost the same number of games at the age of 26 is an extraordinary mark. However, he is still far from the great players who have hit the ball to the outfield or beyond.

The all-time hits leader is Pete Rose with 4,256, followed by Ty Cobb, Hank Aaron, Stan Musial and Tristam Speaker. Here is the list of the top 10 players with the most hits in history:

  1. Pete Rose – 4,256
  2. Ty Cobb – 4,191
  3. Hank Aaron – 3,771
  4. Stan Musial – 3,630
  5. Tris Speaker – 3,515
  6. Derek Jeter – 3,465
  7. Honus Wagner – 3,430
  8. Carl Yastrzemski – 3,419
  9. Albert Pujols – 3,384
  10. Paul Molitor – 3,319
