The case of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, regarding his social/legal problems in the United States, still has a lot of material to talk about. Now, a new voice from Mexican boxing has given an opinion on the unfortunate situation and his voice must be heard for the great legacy he left in Mexico’s pugilism.

Juan Manuel Marquez shared his thoughts on the son of the Mexican legend, making it clear that it is something negative for the image of boxing and for his own family.

Chavez Jr. was arrested on July 2 by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for drunk driving, illegal possession of weapons, expired visa, illegal stay in the United States and a request for illegal stay.

In addition, the son of the “Great Champion” has an arrest warrant in Mexico by the Attorney General’s Office for crimes of organized crime and arms trafficking linked to the Sinaloa Cartel, an organization classified by the U.S. government as a “terrorist group”.

Juan Manuel Marquez criticizes the behavior of Chavez Jr

“Dinamita” Marquez attended ProBox TV, where he lamented the situation of the “Cesar del Boxeo’s” son, stressing that this problem has been detrimental to the Chavez family, as well as to the sport. “I think it’s sad what is happening, in the end it is the son of a figure, of the best fighter in the history of Mexican boxing in my point of view, and I think that living this is not good, it is not good for the image of boxing and for the Chavez family.”

However, Juan Manuel Marquez said he is not surprised by all this, as it is not the first time that Chavez Jr has been involved in very controversial problems. “You can’t combine sport with that kind of thing and I think in that sense, they say, –he who does evil, evil will end-, and I think it has to do with that situation, you have to follow up because we have seen Chavez Jr, he had issues with that kind of thing before and I think it hurt him little by little.”

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr’s legal situation

A few days ago, Julio Cesar Chavez Carrasco did not attend his hearing in a Los Angeles Superior Court, but he did not show up because he is still being held by ICE. It is presumed that federal authorities have him imprisoned in Hidalgo, Texas. This situation has caused controversy since ICE’s reports were for “immediate deportation” to Mexico. However, a week after the boxer’s arrest, it is possible that he may face trial in the United States for his links to the Sinaloa Cartel.

The Chavez family has asked for patience with the decisions of the authorities in Mexico and the United States to clarify the case of “Julito” and prove his innocence. It is not yet clear when the Department of Homeland Security will be able to report on the situation of the Mexican boxer. However, the legal team of the son of the “Cesar del Boxeo” is working on the case to inform his future, whether in freedom or behind bars.
