Josh Allen poised to make NFL history: Can he break an awesome Aaron Rodgers’ record this Sunday?

The Buffalo Bills continue their pursuit of the New England Patriots in the race for AFC East supremacy, and this Sunday’s matchup against Drake Maye and company could be a pivotal moment. But it’s not just about team standings-this game offers quarterback Josh Allen the chance to make NFL history.

Allen, who has been a powerhouse for the Bills since being drafted seventh overall in 2018, is on the verge of breaking an impressive record. According to the Bills’ public relations team, “Josh Allen is set to play in his 125th career game Sunday & needs four touchdowns to reach 300 total TDs in his career. Allen can become the fastest player to ever reach the 300 TD mark & the only one to ever do so before turning 30.” This is no small feat, considering the record is currently held by none other than Aaron Rodgers, a future Pro Football Hall of Famer. Rodgers achieved his 300th touchdown in his 134th NFL game, setting the standard for quarterbacks across the league.

To put this achievement into perspective, Russell Wilson reached the same milestone in 149 games, while Peyton Manning hit 300 touchdowns in 150 games. If Allen secures four touchdowns against the Patriots on Sunday, he’ll not only beat Rodgers’ record by nine games but also become the first player in NFL history to hit this mark before turning 30. That’s a testament to his exceptional talent and versatility as a dual-threat quarterback.

At just 29 years old, Allen has already solidified his reputation as one of the league’s most dynamic players. In the ongoing 2025 NFL season, he’s racked up an impressive 22 passing touchdowns and 12 rushing touchdowns over just 13 games. His ability to make plays both through the air and on the ground makes him a constant threat to opposing defenses.

All eyes are on Josh Allen’s record-breaking quest

In his career so far, Allen has recorded 217 passing touchdowns, 77 rushing touchdowns, and even two receiving scores in just 124 games. These numbers highlight why he’s considered one of the most electrifying quarterbacks in NFL history.

The Bills’ star quarterback has already proven he can shine under pressure, but his last encounter with the Patriots in Week 5 ended in a narrow 23-20 loss. In that game, Allen threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns while adding another 53 yards on the ground. Although he didn’t score any rushing touchdowns that day, his performance demonstrated his ability to keep defenses guessing.

With Sunday’s game on the horizon, all eyes will be on Josh Allen as he attempts to etch his name into NFL history books. The stakes are high-not just for the team’s playoff hopes but also for Allen’s legacy. As one of the league’s brightest stars, he has the talent and determination to make this moment happen. After all, as the Bills’ PR team said, “Allen can become the fastest player to ever reach the 300 TD mark.” The countdown is on-will this be the game where history is made?
