There’s no doubt the pressure is mounting on the 18-year NFL veteran. In the opening half, he was picked off twice-something the Cleveland Browns, and especially Head Coach Kevin Stefanski, can no longer afford to ignore. Tough decisions are looming.
The two interceptions looked more like mistakes from a rookie quarterback. One was picked by Kerby Joseph, the other by D.J. Reed-both entirely on Flacco. Each turnover led directly to points for the Lions.
So far this season, Flacco has thrown six interceptions. At halftime of this game against Detroit, the score stands at 20-7 in favor of the Lions. The Browns’ only touchdown came from rookie Quishon Judkins.
Criticism on social media was quick to appear
The criticism on social media came quickly. Fans are calling for an immediate switch to rookie Dillon Gabriel, Flacco’s direct backup. However, many Browns supporters want to see Shedeur Sanders take the field instead.
Among the loudest voices was Pat McAfee, one of the NFL’s most outspoken critics, who quickly posted on X: “Flacco threw a punt again.”
Cleveland is now staring at a 1-4 record, with their lone win coming in fluky fashion last week against the Green Bay Packers. At this rate, the Browns look like prime candidates for the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft.
