Jerry Jones dismantled Dallas’ defense, making every QB look like Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson

The Dallas Cowboys’ defense, once feared throughout the league, has collapsed completely following the departure of star linebacker Micah Parsons. What was a unit of intimidation last season has now become a laughingstock. In their Week 3 matchup against the Chicago Bears, quarterback Caleb Williams was not sacked a single time. This was particularly glaring considering he was brought down 68 times during the 2024 season. Against Dallas, he delivered four touchdown passes without throwing a single interception, showcasing a flawless performance that highlighted just how ineffective the Cowboys’ defense has become.

It wasn’t so much a resurgence for Williams as it was a clear reflection of how soft and ineffective the Cowboys’ defense has become-a group some critics now describe as “made of clay.” Without Parsons anchoring the unit, the defense looks weak, uncoordinated, and completely overmatched.

All fingers point directly at Jerry Jones

NFL analyst Mina Kimes did not hold back when discussing Dallas’ defensive woes, pointing squarely to team owner and general manager Jerry Jones as the root cause.

Right now, the Cowboys’ defense is allowing a QBR of 80. That’s the worst in the NFL.

Kimessaid on ESPN’s First Take, before putting that number into perspective.

To put that in perspective, Lamar (Jackson) is 78, Josh Allen is 75. They’re making everyone who plays them better than Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. And there’s only one person to blame for this. It’s Jerry Jones. It was the most predictable outcome that the defense would fall apart. Because when Micah Parsons didn’t play while he was on the team, the defense fell apart. This was no mystery. If I’m a Cowboys fan, I’m furious at Jerry Jones.

Parsons’ departure just a week before the 2025 season kicked off left fans outraged. Jones attempted to justify the decision by claiming that the money saved from not paying Parsons what he demanded would allow him to bring in additional players to make the team more competitive. So far, that promise has been empty, with the defense crumbling week after week.

Through the first three games of the season, Dallas is surrendering an alarming 30.7 points per game, a number that could climb even higher as the year progresses. This statistical disaster underscores what many already believe-that letting Parsons go was a catastrophic mistake.

For Kimes, any realistic hopes of Dallas competing for a Super Bowl have already vanished.

Jerry Jones isn’t running this team to win a Super Bowl,.

She said bluntly.

Former NFL player Ryan Clark echoed her sentiments, offering a scathing critique of Jones’ leadership.

He’s running this team to have it be talked about. Running this team to have it in the tabloids. Running this team to have it be a reality show and a soap opera, not to be an actual contender.

Dak Prescott looks ahead to Green Bay

While critics hammer the defense, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott shifted the focus toward their next challenge against the Green Bay Packers.

Those are never the headlines and never can be.

Prescott said, and added.

This is Dallas Cowboys vs. the Green Bay Packers. And we’ve got to go get a win.
