This weekend sees one of the most eagerly anticipated boxing contests on the early calendar with the fight between Jaron Ennis and Eimantas Stanionis, and in this high-profile bout one of them has the odds in his favor.

The ring at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City is set for 12 rounds as the two headliners will battle it out for the unified welterweight championship with the IBF, WBA and The Ring belts on the line

Currently, the bookmakers have Boots Ennis as the heavy favorite with odds of 9/50 (-560) to win the fight outright, while there is a 15/4 (+380) in favor of Stanionis.

In other predictions, according to DraftKings, Ennis is also the betting favorite in this eagerly awaited contest at -650, and Stanionis is the +450 underdog, but this is not a problem for the fighter from Lithuania. “I know it’s a big task. I’m realistic. I know it won’t be easy for me or for him. That’s why number one and number two are fighting,” Stanionis said.

Why is Ennis the favorite?

Bookmakers believe there is an 81% chance that Ennis will win, while they give Stanionis a 19%, perhaps because on this occasion he steps into the ring with an undefeated record of 33 wins, zero losses and zero draws, 29 of those victories by knockout

Ennis has more experience, with 18 more fights to his name, having made his debut in 2016, 11 months before Stanionis, whose first professional fight was in 2017. He has fought 20 more professional rounds, totaling 118 compared to Stanionis’ 98.

According to The Ring magazine, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis goes into the fight ranked number one at welterweight, while Eimantas Stanionis is currently ranked number two in the 147-pound division.
