When you’re about to tie the knot, it’s normal to feel at home with your partner’s family. Jake Paul definitely wants his fiancée, Jutta Leerdam, to feel that way. But during a recent episode of their podcast, Impaulsive, Jutta might’ve felt a little too comfortable-so much so that she left both Jake and Logan Paul completely speechless.
Sure, Jake and Logan are known for being unfiltered, but Jutta has usually been the one to keep Jake grounded-kind of the “calm in the chaos” vibe. So when she ended up dropping a surprising comment right to their dad’s face during the podcast, things got really awkward, really fast.
Lost in translation
Cultural and language differences can get tricky, and this time, they nearly landed Jutta in hot water with her future father-in-law. Her intentions were sweet, but her direct Dutch-to-English translation didn’t quite hit the mark-and definitely needed a double-check.
Jutta’s from the Netherlands, and while her English is fluent, it’s not her first language. So, naturally, every now and then a little mix-up can happen-especially when you’re trying to describe your fiancé’s dad on a public podcast.
What she meant to say
Without meaning any harm, Jutta confidently said Jake’s dad had a “small heart and a big mouth.” Not exactly the compliment she thought it was. The room went silent-and mouths literally dropped.
What came across as calling Mr. Paul cold and talkative was actually meant to highlight his kindness and openness. Jutta intended to say he had a good heart and was full of personality. A wholesome message gone hilariously wrong. Safe to say, next time she’s asked to describe Jake’s mom, she might choose her words a little more carefully.
