Jake Paul mocked for choosing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. as his next opponent

Of all his limited time in the ring, only once did Jake Paul face someone his own age and that was in February 2023 against Britain’s Tommy Fury, in a fight he lost by split decision in Saudi Arabia. Outside of that, his opponents have always left much to be desired and have raised suspicions about the comfort he clings to in order to maintain the narrative that he has some kind of serious future inboxing.

Another ‘tailor-made’ election?

Now, his next opponent after his media fight with Mike Tyson is Mexican Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., an almost 40-year-old boxer who had the talent and opportunity to go far in the ring, but threw his career away because of addictions and his difficult temperament.

Although Chavez Jr. boasts a respectable record of 53 wins in 61 fights, 34 by knockout, and is considered by Logan Paul, Jake’s brother, as “a dangerous opponent because he is a real boxer“, the reality is that the son of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavezhas nothing left to give in the ring, although many insist on thinking so.

And there are those who are convinced of that, among fans or professionals, as is the case of former UFC fighter Michael Bisping, who does not swallow anything that comes from Jake Paul, whom he called “a pathetic individual” since he announced his fight with Mike Tyson

Michael Bisping’s fierce criticism

Bisping lashed out at Paul in a video posted on the YouTube platform, in which he did not hold back: “That’s why I don’t respect Jake Paul as a boxer. It’s not that I’m jealous of his money or anything like that (…) Jake Paul is not a real boxer. He makes up the situation for fights and opponents that he knows he can win, like this new one with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Well, the guy is almost 40,” he said bluntly.

Bisping’s words are just the echo of what is said on social media, where the meme of ‘Jake Paul challenges 100-year-old Jimmy Carter’ is circulating again to criticise the announcement of his ‘brand new’ rival: “(Chavez Jr.) was beaten by Anderson Silva, he’s had substance issues and things like that, I think, in the past, and he’s got some losses on his record. He’s almost 40 years old, okay? And he’s not his father. This is another situation that Jake Paul has looked at; it’s calculated. Yes, he has to work hard, yes, he has to train hard, but he probably knows he can beat this guy,” Bisping concluded.
