Injuries cast a shadow over Dodgers’ Opening Day preparations

The Los Angeles Dodgers 2025 season is two weeks away from beginning, when they face the Chicago Cubs on Opening Day in the Tokyo Series on March 18 and 19, and the motivation to get back on the field to defend their World Series title has taken a turn with a warning of concern because of injuries that have occurred during Spring Training

In a recent injury report, manager Dave Roberts addressed the problem of his catcher Will Smith, as well as the fact that Clayton Kershaw will remain out of action during the early games of the campaign. The Dodgers hospital added one more patient with the arrival of rookie pitcher Edgardo Henriquez

According to a comment on X by MLB expert Bill Plunkett, Dave Roberts said he was not “ready” to answer questions about what happened, while explaining that Henriquez has an orthopedic boot on his foot, which increases the uncertainty about one of the team’s promising players.

Roki Sasaki makes Dodgers debut

Not all is bad news for the Dodgers, as their Japanese ace Roki Sasaki made his debut with the team in Tuesday’s 4-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds in Spring TrainingRoki Sasaki threw three scoreless innings, allowed two hits, struck out five and walked one, during 46 pitches, 26 of them strikes.

The starter was another Japanese pitcher, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who pitched four innings and allowed two runs before handing the ball to Sasaki. Both went without a decision and the win went to Mexican reliever Jose Rodriguez
