When the Las Vegas Raiders revealed that Tom Brady would have a strong voice in selecting their next head coach, it raised an obvious question: where would his evaluations come from?
While Brady‘s playing career connected him with nearly every corner of the league, his newer role as a FOX broadcaster may now be just as important.
Calling games every week has placed Brady inside production meetings, film sessions and game plans across the NFL.
According to AthlonSports, he has watched coaching staffs operate in real time, often offering candid assessments during broadcasts.
Those moments may now carry weight as Las Vegas searches for its next leader.
Few coaches received more consistent praise from Brady than Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores. During Minnesota’s wins and losses alike, Brady repeatedly highlighted Flores‘ impact.
In one game, he summed it up simply: “The defense set the tone,” before adding, “Coach Flores getting in the middle of the pocket.” Their long history in New England only deepens that familiarity.
Offense has also stood out in Brady‘s evaluations. While calling a lopsided Saints win in 2024, he raved about Klint Kubiak‘s play calling, saying the coordinator was “on fire” and noting how the unit “mixed personnel” and created early explosive gains. Even without a recent Seahawks broadcast, that impression could linger.
When exposure works against candidates
Not every coach benefitted from Brady‘s close-up view. Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy oversaw several offensive struggles in games Brady called, including a Super Bowl defeat.
Brian Daboll’s Giants also failed to impress in multiple broadcasts, making him appear more suited to a coordinator role.
Others fell somewhere in between. Kliff Kingsbury earned vocal respect from Brady despite uneven results, while the Rams’ coordinators Mike LaFleur and Chris Shula consistently coached strong performances under his watch. Defensive minds such as Jeff Hafley and John Harbaugh also showed well, even in narrow losses.
Brady‘s schedule alone will not decide the Raiders‘ future, but it offers insight into how he may be forming opinions.
For a franchise seeking direction, the view from the broadcast booth could prove surprisingly influential.
