The San Diego State Aztecs visit the UCLA Bruins on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026 at 7:15 p.m. ET from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. San Diego State moved to 1-0 by beating Portland State 53-20, and UCLA is also 1-0 by way of a 45-24 win over California.

San Diego State’s rushing attack set the tone in that opener. The Aztecs rushed for 237 yards and scored 53 points while allowing 20.

UCLA leaned on a more balanced attack, passing for 184 yards and rushing for 277 in the win over California, though the Bruins allowed 291 passing yards through the air.

The Bruins are 12.5-point favorites over the Aztecs at DraftKings, with a total of 55.5 and a moneyline of -521 for the Bruins and +378 for the Aztecs.

Below, we’ll give you all the details you need to know about how to watch this game.

Players to Watch

UCLA is favored by 12.5 points at home, but Iamaleava’s first outing was more workmanlike than explosive, as he threw for 184 yards with an interception and no touchdowns in a win over Cal. He now faces a San Diego State defense that just held FCS Portland State to 20 points, a step up in competition as the Aztecs settle into their new conference slate. Cleaning up the turnover and finding the end zone through the air would go a long way toward validating UCLA’s role as the favorite in this one. His performance is also the clearest signal of how much the passing game has grown since the Bruins’ opener.

Woods was the workhorse in UCLA’s opener, rushing for 118 yards as the Bruins controlled the ground game in a win over Cal. That kind of production matters against a San Diego State defense that is stepping up in competition after its opener against an FCS opponent. If Woods keeps piling up yards on the ground, it takes pressure off Iamaleava’s passing game and helps UCLA protect its spot as the favorite. His workload also says something about how much the coaching staff trusts the offensive line so far this season.

San Diego State is a 12.5-point underdog on the road, and Denegal will need to be efficient if the Aztecs want to keep this game close. He threw for 137 yards and two touchdowns, though also an interception, in a 53-20 win over Portland State to open the season. That performance came against an FCS opponent, so the step up to a Big Ten defense in UCLA gives a clearer read on where Denegal’s game stands. Limiting mistakes will matter most, since San Diego State can’t afford giveaways against a favored opponent playing at the Rose Bowl.

Lowe made the most of limited opportunities in San Diego State’s opener, turning just two catches into 56 yards and a touchdown. That efficiency gives the Aztecs a big-play option even in a game where they’re expected to see fewer overall possessions against UCLA. If Lowe can produce at that same per-catch rate, San Diego State has a way to stay within reach on the road. His touchdown already shows he can finish plays when Denegal gets him the ball down the field.
