Hansi Flick suffers after calling Real Madrid

If karma exists, it most likely came to Barcelona’s coach. In the press conference prior to the Copa del Rey semifinal clash between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, the Catalan team’s coach, German Hansi Flick, gave a lot to talk about with an answer in which he left Real Madrid in a very bad light. Los Blancos fell in the round of 16 against what was then the 17th place team in the second division of Spain, Albacete.

With the obvious dig at the club in the press conference, the German coach never expected that Atletico Madrid could defeat him four goals to nil, completely nullifying Barcelona’s attacking play and taking advantage of that same style of play for Diego Simeone to seal a historic thrashing in the Copa del Rey.

What did Hansi Flick say about Real Madrid before the Copa del Rey semifinal match?

Barcelona’s head coach did not hold back in sending a direct message to Real Madrid ahead of their match against Atletico. This all happened after a reporter commented on the “easy” clubs that the Blaugrana had faced prior to the match against Diego Simeone’s side. Barcelona, to reach the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, had faced Guadalajara, Racing de Santander and Albacete, none of which are top-flight teams.

On the way to these semifinals, Barca has not yet had to face any top-flight teams. What do you think of those who belittle or want to take away a little value from this qualification for not having faced any top-flight teams yet?

When asked by the press, Hansi Flick, true to his style, answered the question in an elegant and clear manner.

Ask Real Madrid

Hansi Flick

Four words that made it clear that none of the teams are easy and that it is enough to be overconfident for a club that is apparently much worse than one to defeat and eliminate them from the competition, just as Albacete did with Real Madrid in the round of 16, a team that Barcelona faced and managed to defeat to advance to the semifinals.

Hansi Flick loses battle against Diego Simeone: Atletico Madrid humiliate Barcelona

Barcelona, who are currently top of the Spanish league with 58 points, faced Atletico Madrid, who are in third place in the domestic tournament with 45 points, 13 less than the team led by Hansi Flick.Barcelona arrived with great confidence and security after the good previous matches, while Diego Simeone’s team arrived with serious doubts after having lost its last two home games (Real Betis and Bodo Glimt)

In the end, as happened to Real Madrid against Albacete, Barcelona fell to Atletico Madrid by four goals to nil in a match where the club from the capital steamrolled the Catalan side, preventing the great attacking play that Hansi Flick‘s side has shown throughout the season.

In the end, the words before the match take on more relevance after the historic result for Atletico, now Barcelona will look for a comeback at home on March 3 in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final
