Giants get good news: Malik Nabers could return early as Harbaugh builds around Jaxson Dart

It’s amazing how much a franchise’s fortunes can change when you pick the right player. That’s exactly what’s happening with the New York Giants. The selection of Jaxson Dart in the first round of last year’s draft has reignited fans’ excitement. It doesn’t mean he’s the ultimate solution, but the team has clearly taken a step forward, and things are looking bright.

There’s no doubt that having a player like Jaxson Dart made it easier for John Harbaugh, one of the most sought-after head coaches, to decide to sign with the New York Giants. On the very day Harbaugh met with the organization, reports leaked that both sides had reached an agreement. With that, the Giants have secured a top-tier head coach.

In his introductory press conference, Harbaugh expressed his enthusiasm for coaching the young quarterback Jaxson Dart and building around his talent. Speaking candidly about how quickly the deal came together, he said, “I wanted this job.”

Malik Nabers could return sooner than expected

In the game against the Dallas Cowboys, Malik Nabers was still seen on crutches after the ligament injury he suffered in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers. This caused concern for Dr. Jesse Morse, who indicated the following day that there was a possibility Nabers might have needed reconstruction of a second ligament or suffered a setback, meaning his recovery could take 12 to 15 months.

This raised alarms among fans. However, Joe Schoen, general manager of the New York Giants, commented on the day of Harbaugh’s introduction that Malik Nabers could be ready for training camp.

The good news didn’t stop there. Rookie running back Cam Skattebo, who suffered a serious ankle injury, is also expected to return for training camp. This gives John Harbaugh a very real chance to work from the start with the team’s biggest stars, led by Jaxson Dart.

The Giants are not just strong on offense. On defense, they have Brian Burns, the league leader in sacks in the NFC, and rookie Abdul Carter, who has already shown flashes of potential. There are areas to improve on the defensive side, but the Giants could very well be contenders in the 2026 season.
