Giancarlo Stanton confesses and the bad news for the Yankees does not stop

One of the most important hitters in the New York Yankees lineup, Giancarlo Stanton, who last season was the team’s designated hitter, spoke about the series of injuries he has been suffering in recent years.

Stanton has been sidelined from spring training due to problems with both elbows, and he does not yet have a date to return to activity due to the severity of the problems, according to the official Major League Baseball website, MLB.com.

Stanton attributes his problems to adjustments he made with the bat last season, although he does not yet know what the treatment would be, there is a possibility that he may need surgery, but that is not yet defined.

Stanton would become one of the most important players for the Yankees for the 2025 season, after losing Juan Soto in free agency, so it is expected that Stanton can play and be an important bat in the lineup along with captain Aaron Judge.

Preseason games are already underway, which will give team manager Aaron Boone some time to play with the team’s lineup, as it was expected that Stanton would begin the regular season on the injured list.

Stanton and the possibility of missing the 2025 MLB season

If Stanton requires surgery, he could be out for the entire season, a year after the slugger was a vital part of the Yankees to reach the World Series after 15 years without doing so.

Stanton finished 2024 with a .233 batting average, 27 home runs and 72 RBIs, and although his numbers were overshadowed by the performances of Soto and Judge, it was a good year for him.

For now, Boone says he’s not sure how much production he can get out of Stanton in the coming months

“It’s coming along slowly and we’re hopeful to get to a point where we start ramping it up,” Boone told The Post. “He seems to be in good spirits. Just listening to his body.”

Stanton has played for the Yankees since 2018 after a successful stint with the Miami Marlins.
