Gervonta Davis is back in the news and, again, it is about an incident outside of boxing. Davis uploaded a video on his social networks that generated a lot of noise and rejection because he was seen partying with a friend, something questioned by public opinion, since a few days ago he had received his probation after a conflict with his ex-partner.
Davis has been involved in several controversies recently and while his fans were hoping he would be calmer, the boxer was allegedly doing the opposite by going out to celebrate with alcohol in a luxury car, however, it all had an explanation.

The video reposted by Davis on social media showed him with a friend in a luxury car and with the emojis of two champagne glasses. This video generated rejection among his followers, as they thought it was recent and that it was not appropriate after being released a few days ago.
It was the boxer’s own followers who denied the timeliness of the video, pointing out that it was an old clip with rapper Casanova (who is currently serving a sentence in federal prison). Despite being a memory, the confusion underlines how fragile Davis’ reputation is at the moment.
Davis was criticized for the video, but it was later debunked. The fact that his friend was there helped give it credibility, as Casanova has been in prison for some time and it was impossible for the recording to be recent, so on this occasion, Davis came out clean.
Why is Gervonta Davis on probation?
Beyond the video, Davis’ legal reality is serious. The boxer is facing a civil lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend, Courtney Rossel, who accuses him of assault and false imprisonment in an incident that occurred last fall.
After several days of surveillance, Davis was arrested in Miami and must now comply with strict restraint measures, including a complete restraining order from the alleged victim.
Davis’ situation is complex and to be free he had to pay a large sum of money as bail. The boxer is getting further and further away from the ring and his fans are starting to look for another boxer to follow.
