The 2025 Tight End University afterparty became an unexpected musical spectacle when pop superstar Taylor Swift took the stage to perform “Shake It Off,” much to the delight of attendees.

Created by NFL stars Travis Kelce and George Kittle, the event celebrated the league’s top tight ends but ended up making headlines for a surprising performance by Swift, marking her first notable live appearance since her Eras Tour wrapped in December 2024.

During a recent appearance on the podcast Bussin’ with the Boys, Kittle recounted how he and some of the event’s attendees encouraged Swift to perform. “We kind of bullied her into performing by telling her, ‘You should totally sing,'” he joked.

Kittle walks back remarks, emphasizes Swift’s agency

Almost immediately, Kittle clarified his remarks, stressing that he was “kidding” and reassuring fans that “no one bullies Taylor Swift.”

The comment appears to have been tongue-in-cheek, reflecting the playful atmosphere of the event rather than any actual pressure placed on the pop icon.

The performance turned out to be a highlight of the evening. Swift delivered an energetic rendition of “Shake It Off,” adding a fresh arrangement to her classic hit.

The set also featured a collaboration with country singer Kane Brown, amplifying the celebratory feel and leaving attendees with memories they likely won’t forget.

Following Swift’s performance, Luke Combs felt encouraged to take the stage, creating a night of cross-genre musical excitement that delighted both NFL fans and Swifties alike.

The afterparty performance held additional significance for Swift, marking her first public musical appearance since her massive tour ended nearly a year prior. For many, it reinforced her enduring star power and ability to draw attention even in casual, non-tour settings.

Meanwhile, the NFL landscape continued to evolve around her. Kelce is preparing for his 14th season with the Kansas City Chiefs, following a 2025 campaign in which the team struggled, winning just six games and missing the playoffs for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era.

Kittle, on the other hand, battled injuries throughout the 2025 season with the San Francisco 49ers, appearing in only 11 games while tallying 57 receptions for 628 yards and seven touchdowns. Both players are looking toward a healthier and more competitive 2026 season.

While the “bullying” comment initially raised eyebrows among fans, it has now been firmly clarified, and the focus remains on the historic performance itself.

The night underscored how sports, music, and entertainment can intersect in unexpected ways, with Taylor Swift once again proving her ability to command a stage, even among NFL stars.

Ultimately, what could have been a tense anecdote turned into a lighthearted story of collaboration, encouragement, and unforgettable memories at Tight End University.

Fans can now look back on the 2025 afterparty as a unique moment when two worlds collided in spectacular fashion, and Kittle‘s humorous clarification has only added to the event’s charm.
