There are nights that seem to be written for great heroes and thus mark an unforgettable moment. Baseball is a clear example of this and on this occasion the protagonist was Francisco Lindor, a Mets player, who against all odds was the great figure in the last game despite having an injury.

With a broken toe and without having started the game, Francisco Lindor became a figure after hitting a two-run double with two outs in the ninth inning and in this way, to the surprise of all the fans who were at Coors Field, he led his team to win 4-2 over the Colorado Rockies

Lindor came into the game with a serious toe injury from a fracture and had therefore not been considered in the starting lineup. Despite this, it is known that the world of sports is very changeable and sometimes in difficult situations you have to take risks. Lindor was called upon as a pinch hitter and with the score tied at 2-2, he hit the ball as far as he could and the Mets took the lead.

After the victory and Lindor’s great performance, it was known that all eyes would be on him and how he responded despite the injury. The Puerto Rican spoke after the game and downplayed what happened regarding his injury. “I knew I had to focus on making solid contact. I didn’t focus on the injury, I focused on the moment,” he explained.

Francisco Lindor, an important player

Lindor joined the Mets in 2021 and has since become a very important player for the team. In 2024, for example, he batted .273 with 33 home runs and 91 RBIs. Above-average statistics that he continues to confirm even though he is injured. Lindor is one of the team’s leaders both on the field and in the locker room. At 31 years of age, he signed a contract until 2031 and earned it.

The Mets’ season is on the rise

After this acclaimed victory, the Mets reached six wins in their last eight games, data that reinforces the great moment of the team and also, further validates the sacrifice of Francisco Lindor to give everything for the team and ensure one more victory that has them expectant with what is coming.

The big picture of the Mets’ season is that they have a record of 40 wins and 24 losses, which has them as leaders of the National League East Division. What lies ahead on the schedule are games against the Rockies, Nationals and Rays. It’s a tough schedule, but with the momentum of an injured Lindor, they will look to stay strong and keep adding positive performances to finish in the best possible way.
