Former NFL star Antonio Brown made a cryptic post on Saturday that many fans interpreted as being about the president of the United States, Donald Trump.

His brief tweet, “If the rumours are true, the US just lost its President,” quickly went viral, amassing tens of thousands of likes, retweets, and replies within hours.

While Brown did not provide additional context or details, the message immediately triggered speculation across platforms.

Known for his outspoken and sometimes unpredictable social media presence, Brown‘s latest post is fueling debates among followers eager for clarification.

The former wide receiver, who retired from professional football in 2023, has a history of controversial posts and public statements. While many interpreted the tweet as a direct reference to current events in Washington, others cautioned against jumping to conclusions, noting that Brown is often prone to exaggeration and hyperbole in his online commentary.

No news regarding the well-being of the president has been released on official channels.

A history of controversies off the field

Brown‘s life outside the NFL has been punctuated by a series of public disputes, legal issues, and headline-grabbing incidents that have kept him in the spotlight long after his final snap.

In 2025, Brown was arrested on a second-degree attempted murder charge related to shots fired outside a celebrity boxing event in Miami, after a fight with another individual.

Authorities allege Brown seized a handgun from security and fired shots that grazed the man’s neck, leading to an arrest warrant and subsequent extradition from Dubai. Brown pleaded not guilty to the charge, and his legal team maintains he acted in self-defense.

This incident added to a long list of legal entanglements for the former wide receiver. Earlier in his postNFL life, Brown faced domestic violence allegations and a series of arrest warrants, including for failure to pay child support. He has also been involved in lawsuits over unpaid debts and other disputes.

Brown‘s issues trace back to his playing days and even before. During his NFL tenure, he was fined multiple times for on-field conduct, including repeated uniform violations and excessive celebrations that drew league discipline.

In 2020, Brown pleaded no contest to burglary and battery charges after an incident involving a moving truck driver, resulting in probation and community service. That same year, he received an eight-game suspension from the NFL under its personal-conduct policy.

His career effectively ended in 2021 when, frustrated with his playing situation, he removed his jersey and equipment mid-game and walked off the field, a moment that quickly went viral and marked the Buccaneers‘ decision to release him.

Beyond legal issues, Brown has drawn attention for personal conduct and financial strife. He filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2024, listing nearly $3 million in debt despite significant NFL earnings. In 2022, he was accused of exposing himself at a Dubai hotel, allegations that underscored the unpredictable nature of his off-field behavior.
