Former NBA champion predicts Warriors will make ‘powerful’ move after Lakers trade for Doncic

The NBA landscape was jolted on Sunday as the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks executed a blockbuster trade, sending Luka Doncic to Los Angeles in exchange forAnthony Davis. This unprecedented midseason swap of All-NBA players has left fans and analysts reeling.

In the aftermath, former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins has turned his attention to the Golden State Warriors. Currently sitting at 24-24 and 11th in the Western Conference, the Warriors are reportedly exploring significant roster enhancements ahead of the trade deadline. Perkins hinted at a major move on the horizon, stating on social media, “I think the Warriors are cooking something up POWERFUL!!!!”

According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, Golden State’s front office is contemplating the ambitious possibility of reuniting Stephen Curry with both LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Fischer reports, “Sources say the most ambitious idea being tossed around among Golden State’s decision-makers: Is there any feasible pathway for the Warriors to pull off the dreamiest of outcomes and find a way to bring both James and Durant to The Bay?”

However, the feasibility of such a monumental acquisition is questionable. LeBron James, who was reportedly surprised by the Lakers’ recent trade, has a no-trade clause and has expressed his intention to remain in Los Angeles. Similarly, Kevin Durant, currently with the Phoenix Suns, may be reluctant to return to Golden State due to past conflicts.

The clock is ticking: Will the Warriors pull off a game-changing trade?

The Warriors have also been linked to other high-profile players, including Jimmy Butler. However, Butler has indicated he won’t sign an extension with Golden State, further complicating potential trade scenarios.

With the trade deadline set for Thursday, February 6, at 3 p.m. EST, the Warriors are under pressure to make a decisive move. The recent Lakers-Mavericks trade has intensified the urgency for Golden State to bolster their roster and remain competitive in the tightening Western Conference.

Perkins’ prediction of a “powerful” move underscores the league-wide anticipation surrounding the Warriors’ next steps. As the deadline approaches, all eyes will be on Golden State to see if they can orchestrate a deal that could shift the balance of power in the NBA.

The coming days promise to be pivotal for the Warriors’ season and their aspirations to extend their championship window with Stephen Curry at the helm. Whether they can execute a blockbuster trade remains to be seen, but the NBA world is undoubtedly watching with bated breath.
