Floyd Mayweather’s $100 million watch collection resurfaces to dodge bankruptcy rumors

Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has found himself at the center of bankruptcy rumors recently, despite being regarded as one of the richest former sportspeople in the world.

He seems to have put those rumors to bed very quickly by flaunting a watch collection which is thought to be worth around $100 million.

Former friend 50 Cent was the man who sparked the rumor about Mayweather by suggesting that the former boxer had lied about a few things when he retired.

On April 8, 50 posted a clip from Fighters Corner News, a YouTube channel known for its sports commentary.

The video, dramatically titled “Stephen A. Smith EXPOSES Floyd Mayweather For Going BANKRUPT After $402 Million SCAM,” questions the legitimacy of Mayweather‘s February announcement.

In the caption, 50 wrote, “Damn Champ they caught you CAPPIN. Hahahaaha Time for another exhibition! LOL.”

He also later suggested that Mayweather had lied on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon about owning over 100 buildings in New York City.

A report from Business Insider then emerged claiming that there were no public property records to their knowledge in New York City linking Mayweather‘s supposed purchase.

“Rumors of Floyd Mayweather Jr being in financial trouble [are] hard to [swallow], but [are] deeply rooted[,] I’m told,” boxing insider Rick Glasser wrote in a tweet.

Despite all of this noise, Mayweather has responded by showing off a watch collection on his Instagram story. The three clips each showed a different watch from the collection. One of them was a custom 145-carat diamond-encrusted watch worth $1.8 million which he bought to celebrate his birthday in February.
