Elijah Moore arrives in Philadelphia to become the secret weapon for Jalen Hurts in 2026

The Philadelphia Eagles have always been masters of the calculated gamble game on free agencies. On Tuesday loyal to their practices, General Manager Howie Roseman secured a low-risk, but high-reward weapon at the same time for Jalen Hurts.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Eagles have agreed to a one-year deal with wide receiver Elijah Moore. For the 25-year-old, Philadelphia represents his fourth home in six seasons, completing a journey through the league that has been as turbulent as it has been promising.

A chance to turn his career around

Elijah Moore entered the league in 2021 as a second-round prospect out of Ole Miss (No. 34 overall). His rookie year with the New York Jets was a masterclass in potential, where he led the team with five receiving touchdowns. However, the NFL is a tough business, and Moore’s trajectory took a sharp turn after being dealt to the Cleveland Browns in 2023.

During his two-season stint in Cleveland, Moore proved to be a reliable “iron man,” appearing in all 34 possible games and racking up 120 receptions, 1,178 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns.

Despite that first consistency, his value hit an all-time low during his last 2025 campaign with the Buffalo Bills. In just nine appearances, Moore recorded only nine catches for 112 yards and zero scores. For the Eagles, this statistical dip is exactly why the signing is so strategic, they are buying stock in a former star at its absolute floor.

The addition of Moore adds a layer of depth that makes this roster one of the most dangerous in the NFC. All eyes will now be on training camp to see how quickly Moore can develop a shorthand with his new quarterback.
