Luka Doncic’s physical condition has been one of the talking points of this NBA summer… and the previous ones. The Lakers point guard, whose weight has always been a topic of debate, has worked hard to get to the start of the season in his best shape. Already in the Eurobasket with the Slovenian national team showed a remarkable improvement.
This summer was now or never
However, the Los Angeles franchise has made official the weight with which Doncic has arrived at the Lakers. And he weighs more than at the start of last season. Then, the Mavericks announced that the point guard was 104.3 kilos. Now it is 110.6.
There are two possible explanations for this and both may be partly true. The first is that last year the Dallas franchise did not tell the whole truth about Doncic’s weight and reduced his weight by a few kilos. The second, and probably more accurate, is that the point guard’s gain was due to an increase in muscle mass.
A body for the stage
That second hypothesis seems the most feasible seeing the images. Doncic even became the protagonist of the cover of ‘Men’s Health’ magazine. “If I stop now it will have been in vain. Every summer I try my best to work on different things. Obviously, I’m very competitive. This summer was a little different. It motivated me to be even better. It was a now or never,” he told the publication.
He looked more defined than at any other time in his career. But as photos can be tricky, there are his on-court images during the EuroBasket, where he looked very sharp and showed greater speed, great mobility and endurance to always last more than 30 minutes on the court without his performance suffering. He ended up being the tournament’s top scorer with a whopping 34.7 points on average.
