In reality, it’s no surprise the Los Angeles Dodgers have the highest payroll in MLB. Aside from being a legendary franchise in the sport, the team is also based in one of the most expensive cities in the world. That means more money for the baseball club, and more money for its players.
But in order for those players to get paid as handsomely as they do, the franchise needs to bring in revenue from various sources. Stadium concessions are certainly one of those ways, and the Dodgers’ marketing team came up with a fantastic souvenir idea recently that has captured the hearts of the fans.
The Dodgers dropped a new souvenir cap that’s shaped like a cooler, with two versions featuring two different Dodgers logos. The cup isn’t overly big, so it can be used in daily life, too. Fans love it, but there’s one big caveat: it’s way too expensive.
Dodgers price all-plastic souvenir cooler cup at 40 dollars
Despite just being an all-plastic cup, the Dodgers are selling it for $39.99 each. The New York Post spoke with Dodgers fans following the release of the souvenir cup, and nearly all of them were flabbergasted by the price.
- “I mean, s**t. I was not expecting almost $50 for one.”
- “My first words were, like, I can’t believe we just spent $45 on a cup.”
- “I mean, it’s Dodger Stadium and they’re going to make their money. You pay a premium here no matter what.”
Some fans do believe “it’s worth it for the experience“, with the plus-side of being able to use it at home making the price an easier pill to swallow. Still, they might be tough to sell for more financially-conscious fans.
