Dodgers look for reinforcements? The move they are about to make to strengthen their team

Despite dealing with a wave of injuries to key pitchers, the Los Angeles Dodgers have maintained their dominance in the National League West, posting a 30-19 record. With the trade deadline looming, the team may look to strengthen its roster, particularly in the outfield, where offensive production has been inconsistent. While injuries have decimated their pitching staff, the expected returns of Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, and Shohei Ohtani could deter them from making any major moves on the mound.

One name frequently mentioned in trade speculation is Nick Frasso, a 26-year-old pitching prospect currently playing for Triple-A Oklahoma City. Ranked 12th in the Dodgers’ farm system, Frasso has shown promise, but with Los Angeles eyeing a deep playoff run, he could be used as a trade chip to address other needs. Another player on shaky ground is James Outman, who, after multiple opportunities, has struggled to produce consistently on offense.

A potential trade target for the Dodgers is Cedric Mullins of the Baltimore Orioles, a team currently in free fall. Mullins, who has 10 home runs this season, could provide the Dodgers with a reliable bat and defensive stability. A trade package involving Frasso and Outman could entice the Orioles to make a move, especially as Baltimore looks to reshape its roster before August.

Any help is good help

The Dodgers currently have Andy Pages patrolling center field, but Michael Conforto’s struggles at the plate may push the team to reconsider its options in left field. Mullins, who has a solid mix of power, speed, and defensive reliability, could seamlessly slide into the outfield, improving the Dodgers’ offensive and defensive flexibility.

While the Dodgers traditionally take an aggressive approach to roster improvement, they may also choose to stay patient, knowing that reinforcements are on the way. The front office, led by Andrew Friedman, will weigh whether making a midseason trade is worth disrupting the current roster or if internal adjustments will suffice.

With the trade deadline fast approaching, all eyes will be on Los Angeles to see if they make a splash in the market. Whether Mullins joins the team or another move is made, the Dodgers remain focused on their ultimate goal-competing for a World Series title in 2025.
