Dodgers keep an eye on Freddy Peralta and could make another splash in the MLB market

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been the protagonists of the MLB market, but their ambition does not stop. After strengthening their roster with big-name players, the Los Angeles organization is considering the possibility of adding Dominican pitcher Freddy Peralta, a move that could change the landscape of the 2026 MLB season.

Freddy Peralta is a 29-year-old right-handed pitcher from Moca, Dominican Republic. He is a two-time All-Star and is recognized for his powerful fastball and dominant slider. His consistency and ability to control opposing hitters have made him one of the most sought-after pitchers on the market today.

Where will Freddy Peralta play in 2026?

Although many teams have already closed their offseason activity, the Dodgers continue to evaluate options to strengthen an already competitive roster. According to The Athletic, the franchise remains interested in Freddy Peralta, the current Milwaukee Brewers pitcher and one of the most attractive arms available on the market.

Peralta’s potential arrival would not be a minor move. He is a proven pitcher, with All-Star experience and numbers to back up his value in Major League Baseball.

Peralta is coming off one of the best campaigns of his career. In the 2025 season, he posted a 17-6 record and a 2.70 ERA in 33 starts, establishing himself as one of the most reliable starters in the National League. Throughout his MLB career, he boasts a 3.59 ERA, as well as advanced metrics that place him among the elite.

According to Baseball Savant, the Dominican right-hander ranked in the 97th percentile in Pitching Run Value and 75th in xERA, data that reinforces his impact from the mound.

However, Los Angeles will not have an easy negotiation as Peralta is wanted by teams such as the Yankees, Mets, Giants and Braves. In the case of New York, the urgency is greater due to injuries to figures such as Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon, which makes Peralta a priority.

The Dodgers’ need after a battered rotation

One of the key factors behind the Los Angeles Dodgers’ interest is the health of their pitching staff. During last season, injuries seriously affected the rotation, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto the only starter to avoid the injured list.

This is why a possible trade for Peralta is an attractive alternative in Los Angeles. The Dodgers have young, controllable talent that could facilitate a deal, including offensive prospects that would be attractive to Milwaukee.
