Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence early Friday morning.
Police noted that Brooks was “respectful and cooperative” throughout the process before being released from custody.
The incident occurred while Brooks remains sidelined from the NBA following a significant injury to his left hand.
TMZ confirmed the 30-year-old was taken into custody around 2:00 AM, though the encounter was described as peaceful.
The arrest follows a string of professional and personal hurdles for the veteran, who has earned over $105 million during his career with the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, and his current tenure in Phoenix.
Known for his “villain” persona and intense defensive rivalries with stars such as LeBron James, Brooks has been a critical component of the Phoenix Suns‘ surprising 2025/26 campaign.
However, he has been out of the rotation since late February after suffering a fractured left hand during a double-overtime victory against the Orlando Magic.
Surgery to repair the fracture was performed on February 23, with a recovery timetable initially set at four to six weeks.

While Brooks was being processed in Scottsdale, his teammates were grappling with a difficult loss at the Mortgage Matchup Center.
Playing without both Brooks and center Mark Williams, the Phoenix Suns fell to the Chicago Bulls in a 105-103 nail-biter on Thursday night.
Devin Booker led Phoenix with 27 points in his second game back from a hip strain, but the team missed the defensive tenacity Brooks typically provides.
The loss serves as a setback for a Phoenix Suns squad currently fighting to maintain its position in the competitive Western Conference playoff race.
Beyond the DUI arrest and his physical recovery, Brooks has been navigating a complex legal situation involving the mother of his two children, Heather Andrews.
In June 2025, Brooks filed a temporary restraining order against Andrews, alleging she had compromised his social media security and damaged personal property.
This followed a previous legal arrangement that had been in place since late 2024.
