Did Roger Goodell replace Aaron Rodgers with a body double? NFL fans think they have proof

Aaron Rodgers is finally set to take the field for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the buzz around town isn’t just about whether the 40-year-old quarterback can make one last run at the Super Bowl. It’s about his face.

This week, two photos started making the rounds online: one of Rodgers in his New York Jets gear, smiling wide, and one from Steelers media day, where his expression is much more reserved. Same quarterback, same scruffy beard, but fans say something feels… off.

It didn’t take long for social media to spin it into a full-blown conspiracy theory. One X user cracked: “Going to start the conspiracy that Roger Goodell replaced Aaron Rodgers with a body double.” The line was meant as a joke, but thousands of likes and reposts later, the “Goodell Double” theory had become a meme of its own.

A Meme-Fueled Conspiracy Before Opening Kickoff

The internet’s sudden obsession with Rodgers’ media day look comes at a pivotal moment. After a short and injury-filled stint with the Jets – where he tore his Achilles just minutes into his debut, Rodgers knows this year in Pittsburgh may be his final act. He’s already hinted he’ll eventually retire as a Packer, but for now, the Steelers are his shot at one more ring.

Rodgers insists the Steelers have the roster to compete, telling the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the team is “realistically capable” of a Super Bowl run. For Mike Tomlin, who’s consistently reached the playoffs but struggled to go deep in recent years, Rodgers represents both risk and reward.

And while fans online may be joking about body doubles and commissioner cover-ups, Pittsburgh fans in the stands will only care about one thing: whether the quarterback under center – whoever he looks like – can still deliver in January.
