For many Mexicans, the story of Gilberto Mora is just beginning to be written in the Mexican national team. His talent was demonstrated in the U-20 World Cup in Chile, where his performance ignited the hopes of an entire country that hopes that this 2026 World Cup will finally see its national team advance further than it has in the last 50 years.

In the Liga MX, Mora, defending the colors of Xolos de Tijuana, has not only stood out, but has become the leader that many visualize and although he is only a 17-year-old boy, the fans dream of seeing him make the leap to a great European club and become a legend, because for them, Gilberto Mora is more than a promise: he is the future of Mexican soccer.

Although Gilberto is currently injured and has not been able to play for the Mexican national team or his club, it is already known what is bothering the young footballer and when he will be able to return to the pitch.

World Cup 2026: Gilberto Mora suffers from pubalgia

The 17-year-old earned his place as one of the immovables of Mexico coach Javier Aguirre, however, in this last call-up of the Mexican national team, Mora could not accompany the team in the friendly matches against Panama and Bolivia due to injury, which caused all the alarms of the Mexican federation to go off.

The doctors of the Mexican national team treated the talented Mexican player, diagnosing him with a possible pubalgia at the time, but pending further studies, the news was confirmed until Tuesday, January 27, thanks to Fox Sports journalist Jessica Zamora, who reported that after doing the corresponding tests, pubalgia was the injury of the 17-year-old.

Gilberto Mora is at risk of missing the World Cup

The Fox Sports reporter indicated that despite being a strain, it is not so serious for the Mexican striker, so the player is calm ahead of the 2026 World Cup where the Mexican with exercises and following the instructions of his doctors will recover without problems in a very short time.

Mora is expected to miss several matches with his team in the Liga MX as the injury would prevent him from playing for approximately four to six weeks, with his participation in the match at the Estadio Azteca against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal in doubt at the moment.
