Attempted Murder Allegation Tied to Halftime Show Incident
For years, the Super Bowl halftime show has attracted the attention of millions worldwide-many of whom aren’t necessarily NFL fans. The spectacle, headlined by major music acts, often draws as much buzz as the game itself.
During Super Bowl LIX, the halftime stage belonged to rapper Kendrick Lamar, who performed alongside SZA. The show generated a wide range of reactions-some praised it, others criticized it. But beyond the music and choreography, an incident occurred that is now taking on new significance, as it appears to involve former NFL star Antonio Brown.
Context is key: in the days leading up to the Super Bowl, Kendrick Lamar and fellow rapper Drake had been embroiled in a bitter back-and-forth online, trading disses through their lyrics. Lamar escalated the feud during the show by performing his track Not Like Us in full-widely interpreted as a pointed message toward Drake.
But the controversy didn’t stop there. During Lamar’s performance, one of the dancers, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, held up a Palestinian flag in protest of the war in the Middle East. Nantambu, 41, was arrested the following day, on February 9, and charged with resisting an officer and disturbing the peace at a legally sanctioned event.
In a statement provided to TMZ, the NFL said:
We commend the Louisiana State Police for its diligence and professionalism in this matter. We take any attempt to disrupt any part of an NFL game, including the halftime show, very seriously and are pleased this individual will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. In addition to the ongoing criminal case, the NFL banned the individual from attending any NFL games or events.
Antonio Brown’s Alleged Involvement
So, what’s the connection between the halftime protestor and Antonio Brown?
According to recent reports, Nantambu was allegedly the victim of an attempted shooting by Antonio Brown. The altercation took place during a boxing event in Miami last month. Sources claim the dispute began when Nantambu accused Brown of stealing jewelry from him during a trip to Dubai.
As the argument escalated, Brown allegedly pulled a firearm and attempted to shoot Nantambu.
Legal Fallout
Antonio Brown has been charged with attempted murder in Miami-Dade County. A $10,000 bond was set, along with house arrest conditions pending trial. However, reports now suggest Brown may have fled the country, placing him in fugitive status.
