Death-threat accusation in the NFL leads Jason and Travis Kelce to have a live on-air argument

On Wednesday’s episode of the “New Heights” podcast, Travis and Jason Kelce talked about the situation lived in the Jacksonville Jaguars vs Tennessee Titans game last Sunday. The thing is, what began as addressing the heated moment quickly escalated into one of the most viral segments yet on their podcast.

In that game, Titans running back Julius Chestnut delivered a heavy hit on Jaguars punter Logan Cooke during a return, leading to an ignited storm. While talking about the moment, it managed to spark an unexpected on-air clash between both brothers.

The case that started all

According to Chestnut, Cooke charged at him after the tackle and threatened his life. As players from both sides joined the fight, the comment turned what could have been an ordinary confrontation into one of Week 14’s biggest talking points.

He was going to kill me

It was controversial enough that even Travis Kelce, who had the week off after the Chiefs’ Thanksgiving loss to Dallas, felt compelled to weigh in. On Wednesday’s episode of New Heights, Travis could barely get through describing the accusation without laughing.

A Tennessee player also claims that Jacksonville punter Logan Cooke threatened to kill him. Jags players, you guys are doing it right. You’re in the head of the opponent across from you. Take it up a notch. Tell him how you’d kill him

Jason dowplays the in-game troubles

His visible humor while talking about the case did not sit perfectly with his brother, as Jason Kelce stepped in immediately, offering a more grounded explanation. The Eagles legend said comments like that, while clearly aggressive, are part of the emotional nature of NFL and football culture.

You’re not being serious. You’re not actually going to kill him

Jason Kelce

Travis argued back saying that sometimes, the unexpected source of a threat makes the moment even more unsettling.

That’s the thing, Sometimes the punters… they look creepy enough and scrawny and weird enough where it’s like, ‘Damn, he probably would do some weird [expletive].’

Travis Kelce

The exchange turned into a spirited back-and-forth between the brothers, with fans quickly sharing clips of the moment across social media. While clearly in a tone of laughter on Travis’ part, the disagreement made for one of the most memorable segments in recent podcast episodes.
