David Benavidez still has Canelo Alvarez out of reach as he knows who his new opponent will be

It was reported that David Benavidez already has a confirmed opponent for his next fight. However, the young American boxer is still unable to face the Mexican Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, so fans (like the ‘Mexican Monster’) will be waiting for the big fight to take place.

Surprisingly, it was not Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) who revealed Benavidez’s new opponent. It was the Saudi royalty who, along with the name, announced the new alliance between the World Boxing Council (WBC) super middleweight champion and Riyadh Season.

The fight between Mexican Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and David Benavidez is one of the most eagerly awaited by boxing fans, however, this fight seems increasingly distant. Sheikh Turki Alalshikh confirmed that David Benavidez will defend his WBC interim title against Anthony Yarde next November. The fight will be part of the new season of Riyadh Season, Alalshikh confirmed.

Benavidez abandoned the super middleweight division after Canelo decided to avoid him and he was forced to move up to light heavyweight. However, he has found himself in the unification fights between Beterbiev and Bivol so he has not yet had the opportunity to win a world championship.
