Caitlin Clark has sparked conversation on social media after reacting to a post from WNBA coach Natalie Nakase, attracting attention from fans and commentators alike.

The Indiana Fever guard was among the first prominent players to comment on a message shared by Nakase on social platforms following her stint with USA Basketball.

Nakase had been part of the coaching staff for Team USA at the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament in Puerto Rico, assisting Phoenix Mercury head coach Nate Tibbetts along with other coaches after head coach Kara Lawson departed to focus on NCAA tournament preparations.

Clark reacts to Nakase’s post

In response to Nakase‘s post, Clark simply wrote: “goatttttt. Guard group,” a comment that quickly caught the attention of followers online.

Fans were quick to react to the Fever star’s message, with many taking the opportunity to weigh in on the pairing of Clark and Nakase in the future.

One user wrote that Clark “loves Coach Nakase,” while another added that she could “also love beating her team this year.”

Other comments pointed out that Clark had recently followed Nakase on social media.

Several fans also voiced their opinion that Nakase would be “a great coach for Clark,” and that she was “a perfect match” for the Fever star.

Looking ahead to the WNBA season

Yet not all reactions were purely complimentary. One reader reminded others of previous remarks Nakase made about Clark, suggesting there could be some tension beneath the surface.

Despite the buzz around their exchange online, the two will soon need to focus solely on competition once the new WNBA season begins.

The first matchup between the Indiana Fever and Nakase‘s Golden State Valkyries is scheduled for May 22 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where any friendly banter will have to take a back seat to the action on the court.
