For days, Craig Ainsworth, who was David and Victoria Beckham‘s bodyguard, had been sought by the Spanish authorities between Alicante and Barcelona. His mother, Sally Ainsworth, has published a statement on social media in which she has confirmed the sad news of her son’s death, whose body has been found after an intense search in Spain.

“They have found Craig. With great sadness, the world has lost Craig. He served in Afghanistan and suffered from PTSD, post-traumatic stress disorder. RIP Craig,” Sally Ainsworth wrote on her personal Facebook account, which has been filled with numerous condolences and expressions of support.

This was Craig Ainsworth’s farewell letter

The famous couple’s former bodyguard, at the age of 40, wrote an enigmatic and disturbing message prior to his disappearance in Spain. “Goodbye, beautiful people. Living is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist; that’s all. For most of you, this will be a shock, but I have suffered greatly over the last four years, since lockdown destroyed everything I had built, and I lost some really wonderful human beings who I was proud to call friends and colleagues,” he said.

In the letter, Craig Ainsworth asked everyone not to be angry with him while at the same time arguing that he was now a “free” person. “I wasn’t perfect, but I lived life, that’s for sure,” he added. “If anyone is thinking of harming themselves, please seek help. Don’t imitate me, you have no idea what I’ve been through. My loved ones will be glad that I have found peace,” he continued.

“I don’t want a funeral. At all. Cremate my body and throw the ashes into the sea. I’m at peace now. Something I never found in life, but what a journey!” concluded the letter from David and Victoria Beckham’s former bodyguard, which authorities are investigating with the hypothesis of a possible suicide by Craig Ainsworth.
