Dave Roberts reveals concerning physical condition of key Dodgers player

The Los Angeles Dodgers are eager to win their second consecutive World Series title, something that has not happened in the franchise’s history.

The Dodgers had one of the most successful off-seasons after bringing in some of the best players in MLB. The Angels have acquired international stars and retained veteran hitters.

With the regular season just around the corner, the team is expected to get off to a great start against the Chicago Cubs in the Tokyo Series, however, injuries seem to be causing some problems.

Recently, manager Dave Roberts gave some tough news about the World Series-winning team

Injury to a key Dodgers player

Catcher Will Smith has been dealing with an injury for nearly 10 months, following an exceptional season through to the World Series, but his injury could take some time to heal.

Smith ran into trouble due to a bone bruise after sliding into second base against the Yankees, and since then, the Dodgers star has been battling the injury, although he hasn’t missed any game time

“I don’t think it’s something that’s going to go away anytime soon. It just is what it is. I think last year there were a lot of pitches he couldn’t hit, I think the foot was preventing the swing. I don’t know if he’s been able to control it, but now he’s in a really good situation,” Roberts said.

Although Roberts says Smith is in a good position, it’s good to be prepared. The team will have its backup receiver on standby amid Smith’s injury.

“It’s one of those things that he’s going to have to deal with, but I think right now he’s in a really good place,” Roberts told Sports Illustrated.

Backup catcher Austin Barnes would be the starting catcher if Will Smith needs time. The Dodgers also have Hunter Feduccia on their 40-man roster

For now, Smith will continue to play, but it is something he should be worried about, especially as it has been bothering him.

Dodgers fans will be hoping Smith is OK and that the bruised bone does not get any worse. Rest is the only key for Smith to gradually improve.
