Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was personally touched by the Opening Day matchup against the Chicago Cubs, as he was reunited with his former third baseman Justin Turner. The series in Tokyo brought them together unexpectedly and he took the opportunity to praise the veteran player, recognizing both his continued excellence on the field and his personality off it.

Dave Roberts managed Justin Turner for seven years in Los Angeles. After seeing him in Japan, he said: “I have a great deal of respect for him. He’s one of the players I had a closer relationship with. He’s had a great career. Seeing Turner in another uniform is a change of attitude, but it’s also a testament to his longevity.”

There is no doubt that the admiration between the two characters is mutual, but with some reluctance and in their reunion in Japan it was evident. But for Justin Turner, the Tokyo Series is not about nostalgia. It is the setting to prove his stardom once again.

The influence of Justin Turner on any team he plays for

The red-bearded ballplayer has earned the respect of multiple teams and fans. His competitors also recognize his worth, demonstrating his enduring influence on baseball. He has a great ability to give and earn the affection of the team. He is always willing to help his teammates and has been described as an outstanding player for his leadership.

Dodgers players have praised Justin Turner’s presence in the locker room, with one calling him “a great asset”. Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer highlighted Turner’s postseason experience as a vital aspect of his roster.

Justin Turner signed a one-year, $6 million contract and, despite turning 39 years old, is still an offensive force after hitting .250 with six home runs and 31 RBIs in 91 games for the Jays and Seattle Mariners combined. This figure shows that he is not losing his rhythm.

Off the field, Turner’s wife, Kourtney Turner, has been an unwavering pillar of support. Her availability in Tokyo during the exhibition games highlights the strong bond that unites the couple. She expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome she received from her Japanese teammates and also shared her experience of wearing a kimono after attending a welcome party hosted by Seiya Suzuki and Shota Imanaga.
