There are historic rivalries in the world of MLB , and one of them is beginning to take shape on the West Coast where the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres have played exciting games where at the end of the season it is the Los Angeles team that has come out on top.

The current champions have dominated the National League West Division for a decade, a situation that is not to the liking of San Diego fans. However, this rivalry has left the ball and bat aside and has been changed for slaps, shoving, shouting and bench clearing, as happened during their last series at Dodger Stadium this week.

Dave Roberts declares his stance on the heat of the game

Shohei Ohtani, Fernando Tatis Jr. and the discussion between managers, where Dave Roberts, manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, broke the silence after the incident and clarified that he did not like the situation at all, and less the verbal confrontation he had with Mike Shildt, his counterpart from San Diego. The statements were shared by SportsNet LA.

Roberts was clear: the blow to Tatis was not intentional, but he understands what it means for the game. “I didn’t feel good about it,” he said. For the manager of the Los Angeles team, what really got under his skin was that Shildt came out of the dugout and started yelling at him, as if it was all a plan with malice aforethought. “I took it personal,” said Roberts, who did not hold back in explaining his annoyance. At that moment, the game stopped being just baseball and became pure pride between two teams that can’t stand each other.

When will the next series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres take place?

In recent years, the games between the two teams have been tense, and any pitch will reignite the spark. The exchange of words between the two managers added fuel to the fire of a rivalry that already has history and postseason flavor. Roberts made it clear that his team does not play dirty, but neither is it going to remain silent.

The next series will be held again at Dodger Stadium on August 15, 16 and 17, during the second half of the season. Currently, the Los Angeles Dodgers remain as division leaders with 46 wins and 30 losses, with a difference of five games against their southern rivals.
