Dana White can’t seem to stay out of controversy. The UFC president made a rather risky decision to join TKO and Turki Alalshikh in a new boxing league.
This decision has upset MMA experts, as the face of the UFC was exploring other horizons such as boxing, a competitor of the UFC in recent years.
The first big fight already secured is Canelo vs. Crawford, which will take place on September 13th, the same day as Noche UFC in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The incredible thing about all of this is that the fight between the Mexican and the American was actually scheduled for the 12th in Las Vegas, but it seems that Turki changed his mind and moved the date. The location has not been confirmed yet, but it will be between Las Vegas, New York or Los Angeles. There are still a few months to go, but what a mess they are making.
MMA pundits are going all out against Dana White
Content creator ‘MMA Guru’ in a chat with Demetrious Johnson once again criticized Dana, this time accusing him of focusing more on boxing than the UFC.
“Dana should go back to promoting fights. Now I’m going to get mad at this microphone. Dana should go back to promoting fights and acting like the president of the UFC. He’s promoting Canelo against Terence Crawford. Dana is promoting Canelo against Crawford as the president of the UFC,” he complained.
And watch out, he didn’t just say that, he raised his hand to be the new head of the UFC because he believes White is losing focus on MMA with his project with TKO and Turki.
“This is a betrayal of the UFC. I really believe that. Fire Dana White and put me in the job. And I’ll promote the UFC,” said the British content creator.
For his part, Dana White has not yet commented on these latest changes, mainly the date due to the presence of Noche UFC , but he will surely address this issue soon, especially since the possibility of holding it in New York or Los Angeles is already being considered.
