Dallas Cowboys hit $10 billion valuation as sport’s most valuable franchise

The Dallas Cowboys are still on top-and not just on the field. According to Sportico, America’s Team is once again the most valuable franchise in all of sports, now worth a jaw-dropping $10.32 billion. That makes them the first team ever to cross the $10 billion mark, setting a new benchmark in the industry.

Right behind them? The Golden State Warriors at $9.14 billion and the New York Knicks at $8.3 billion, proving that NBA franchises are just as much of a financial powerhouse as NFL teams. The Los Angeles Lakers ($8.07 billion) and the New York Yankees ($7.93 billion) round out the top five.

Sportico’s latest rankings show that the value of major sports franchises is skyrocketing. The top 100 teams are worth a combined $470 billion, and every single one is valued at over $2 billion. That includes all 32 NFL teams, all 30 NBA teams, and a select group of MLB, soccer, NHL, and Formula 1 teams.

Speaking of the NFL, the league remains the undisputed financial king. Thirteen of the 20 most valuable franchises are NFL teams, including heavyweights like the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, and Los Angeles Rams. Even the lowest-valued NFL team-the Cincinnati Bengals-still sits at a cool $4.71 billion.

How other leagues stack up in Sportico’s 2025 valuations

Meanwhile, in the NBA, the Warriors’ sky-high valuation is a reflection of their recent dominance. The league’s average team value has climbed to $4.6 billion, with the Lakers and Knicks remaining in their usual top-tier spots. But even the least valuable NBA team, the Memphis Grizzlies, is still worth over $3 billion.

Baseball is hanging in there, with the Yankees leading the way. But while MLB has 15 teams in the top 100, the gap between the top and bottom is growing. The San Diego Padres, coming in at No. 100, just barely make the cut at $2.03 billion.

On the global stage, soccer clubs continue to make waves. Manchester United leads the pack at $6.2 billion, followed closely by Real Madrid ($6.06 billion). With the massive worldwide fanbases of these clubs, their financial rise is no surprise.

Even Formula 1 and the NHL have standout teams. Ferrari is F1’s top dog at $4.78 billion, while the Toronto Maple Leafs lead hockey at $3.66 billion. They may not have the same dollar signs as the Cowboys, but their inclusion in the top 100 proves they’re still financial heavyweights.

The big picture? The business of sports has never been stronger. Media rights, sponsorships, and global expansion are fueling these valuations, and with the Cowboys already past the $10 billion milestone, it’s only a matter of time before even more records are broken.
