Ted Prescott hoped to have a relaxing afternoon playing golf in Texas, however, a bird ruined his plans, as the brother of the Cowboys quarterback was surprised by the aerial attack of a bird of prey while playing with a friend. The incident, which was documented by Tad himself on social media, went viral because of the unusual nature of the situation.
The bird in question was identified as a Mississippi Kite, a common species in the region during the nesting season. According to Tad, both he and his partner Johnie accidentally approached a nest, which provoked a defensive reaction from the bird
“I tried to turn her into a piñata, I thought there were going to be feathers everywhere,” joked Tad in one of his videos.
“Be careful, that bird is attacking people.” His friend Johnie ended up with a small cut on his leg, while they both starred in what Tad described as an impromptu action scene: “If you had seen us, it looked like we were dodging snipers.”
Are Mississippi Kites dangerous?
Although the attack did not cause serious injuries, the experience reflects the territorial behavior of these birds during the breeding season. Mississippi Kites are not usually dangerous, but they can become aggressive if they perceive a threat near their nests, even making defensive dives at high speed, up to 160 km/h.
