Yes, the team currently holds a 1-2-1 record, but Cowboys fans still have hope. One of the losses came against the reigning champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, who competed hard until the end. The tie, a 40-40 draw against the Green Bay Packers, also came against one of the top contenders in the NFC.
The key reason the Cowboys have stayed competitive in these games is clear-and it has a name: Dak Prescott. Looking ahead, Dallas faces the Jets and Panthers, giving the team a chance to even things out and tighten the NFC East race.

But Prescott’s performance cannot be overlooked. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback currently leads the league in passing yards with 1,119, has 6 touchdown passes, and 3 interceptions. With each game, he appears more confident and could surprise many.
Of course, there are several quarterbacks competing for MVP besides Josh Allen. Favorites above Prescott include Justin Herbert, Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, and Baker Mayfield, among others. However, if Dak continues posting similar numbers and leads the Cowboys into the playoffs, he could become a serious contender.
Before the season started, NFL analysts were practically counting the Cowboys out, especially considering their tough division, which includes the Eagles and Commanders. But if Dak gets Dallas into the playoffs, it would provide a strong argument for awarding the MVP to the Mississippi State product.
