Cristiano Ronaldo shared a heartfelt message for his children and remembered his father on a special day

Cristiano Ronaldo has once again made headlines, but this time not for his goals or his injury, but for a warm and emotional message he shared.

In celebration of Father’s Day in Portugal, the 41-year-old Portuguese star didn’t want to let this special day pass by. He not only celebrated his role as a father with his children but also remembered José Dinis Aveiro, who passed away on September 7, 2005.

CR7’s message to his father

The Portuguese forward surprised his followers by posting two photos and a short but heartfelt message on his official social media accounts for his father and his children, revealing the importance his family holds in his life, beyond his successful career as a soccer player.

“De onde venho e para quem vivo. Feliz Dia do Pai” [Where I come from and who I live for. Happy Father’s Day], wrote the Portuguese star, alongside a red heart emoji.

In the photos, Cristiano can be seen with his future wife, Georgina Rodríguez, posing alongside his children: Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. (his eldest son, born before he met the model), the twins Eva and Mateo (born via surrogacy), Alana Martina, and Bella Esmeralda.

The second photo is a few years old, as it shows a young Cristiano with his father, José Dinis Aveiro, who passed away nearly two decades ago at the age of 51. According to reports, the cause of his death was liver failure resulting from his alcohol addiction after fighting in the war between Portugal and Angola.

His death coincided with the time when his son was beginning to make a name for himself at Manchester United, so he was unable to see Cristiano become the star he is today.

These kinds of posts are not new for the player, who has publicly expressed on several occasions the love and impact his father has had on his personal and professional life.

Meanwhile, CR7 is in Spain, having traveled to Madrid to treat his hamstring injury following Al Nassr’s match against AlFayha (3-1) on February 28, where he had to be substituted.

He is expected to return to the field around April 3 for Al-Nassr’s match against Al-Najma, but his availability remains in doubt for Portugal’s final two World Cup warm-up matches against Mexico and the USMNT on March 28 and 31, respectively.
