Cristiano Ronaldo spoke in an interview with El Chiringuito about his departure from Real Madrid

The Portuguese striker explained the negotiation process with the Spanish club, what motivated him to go to Juve and some other insights from those days… as well as leaving the door open for a return to the Bernabeu to receive a tribute.

“I wanted a different stage, my stage was closed. I wanted a different motivation. It didn’t wear me out, it was something I told the president, he agreed that I could leave. We were in a negotiation phase and he didn’t behave so well with me, I understand because he always does it like that and I couldn’t go back, because I gave my word to Juve and the president wanted to go back. But I appreciate Florentino very much, he is a serious person, who treated me well and we won many things together.”

Cristiano Ronaldo does not rule out a return to Real Madrid

Although his departure surprised everyone in 2018, Cristiano Ronaldo does not rule out returning to Real Madrid in the final stretch of his career, where he wrote his name in the history books and rubbed shoulders with legends such as Santiago Bernabeu, Raul, Emilio Butragueno and Hugo Sanchez.

“One day maybe. I don’t rule it out. I left a legacy there, a nice mark there. Maybe at the end of my career we can do something cool, with 80,000 people. People nowadays value those duels with Barcelona, we lived a week with tension through the roof. The fans, the TV talking about the game. Madrid-Barcelona, Cristiano-Messi, Pique and Ramos… It was nice, a rivalry that existed and was healthy.”

Cristiano also spoke about Real Madrid’s current situation and said that he sees a bright future for the Chamartin side.

“Spain is my home, my children grew up there. It’s where I was happiest in football, I’ll always have Madrid in my heart. I did very nice things and people don’t forget. The younger kids see me on YouTube, I keep scoring, my celebrations… people get involved. I get home and Mateo is watching YouTube, watching players. He likes Bellingham, he likes Camavinga, Mbappe… he teases me saying he’s better than me”
