Cowboys recommended to go for two players to try to fill the gap left by Micah Parsons

With Micah Parsons out of the team after his trade to the Green Bay Packers, the Dallas Cowboys face one of their most critical decisions before the start of the season: how to fill the huge void left by their best pass rusher. While the roster still has some promising young defensive ends, the lack of experience is a concern.

Sports Illustrated analyst Gilberto Manzano warns that relying solely on young talent is risky for a team led by a veteran quarterback like Dak Prescott. According to his analysis, Dallas should move in the market and look to bolster its defensive line with proven experience if it really wants to aspire to the postseason

Who are the ideal candidates to fill Micah Parsons’ void in Dallas?

Manzano suggests the Miami Dolphins could be an ideal trade partner for the Cowboys, specifically recommending Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb as two viable options to fill the void left by Parsons

Both have experience as pass rushers and could be available in exchange for draft capital, especially if Miami looks to bolster salary cap space or give prominence to youngsters such as Chop Robinson, their 2024 first-round pick.

Will the Cowboys move or bet on their defensive youth?

Despite the recommendation, there are no clear signs that the Cowboys are ready to part with draft picks for a player with questionable medical history. The franchise seems inclined, for now, to see how its current defensive ends perform during the first few weeks of competition.

However, if pressure on the opposing quarterback does not appear in the first few games, Dallas could be forced to make aggressive decisions. Both Phillips and Chubb could become real options if the Dolphins are open to negotiating part of their salaries and the Cowboys maintain their competitive approach.

As the season approaches, Dallas is walking a fine line between relying on internal development or making moves in the market, and the front office will have to decide whether it’s worth betting on the present or continuing to cultivate its young defensive core.
