This year’s Thanksgiving brought some welcome rest for Coco Gauff as she celebrated the holiday far from the tennis court. Instead she was at home surrounded by family, laughter, music, and memories they likely won’t forget.

It was around this time last year that Gauff reached a personal milestone by purchasing her own home in the same community where her parents live. Announcing the move in October 2024, she shared her excitement with a touch of spirituality: “Cheers to being a homeowner at 20. All glory to God.”

Her new house even became the perfect venue for her first “Friendsgiving,” a Thanksgiving gathering that brought together cousins and close family. Everyone played a role in the feast which included sweet potato pies, cornbread, collard greens, mashed potatoes, gravy, brownies, and cucumber salad.

As for this year, Gauff gave fans a glimpse of her immediate family, as social media posts showed the Gauff family gathered to enjoy one another’s company.

As night fell, the house came alive with laughter and music. Family members sang together, and a karaoke machine transformed the living room into an impromptu concert hall. It seems to be a reoccurring event in the Gauff household, as last year Coco posted them celebrating in a similar fashion.

“Didn’t go live this year lol but here’s my karaoke set for this year. Elevated it with some back ground dancers,” she posted on her Instagram page, along with: “Love my family sm.”

A moment to breathe

This Thanksgiving allowed Gauff a rare pause in her demanding life, as she put away her tennis rackets for microphones.

Her season didn’t end the way she had hoped it would, as she reached the third round in the WTA Finals in Riyadh. That’s where she faced Aryna Sabalenka, who came out on top thanks to a 7-6, 6-2 win.

“My 2025 season is officially over and it was a longggg one. I played my first match of this season December 29th, 2024 and my last match of the season November 6th, 2025,” she wrote on Instagram.

“It was filled with some disappointments but mainly positives and when I look back at it, I feel proud of all the things I accomplished. I love this sport and I am grateful for all of its ups and downs.”
