Clayton Kershaw is close to staying with the Los Angeles Dodgers to reach a historic figure

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Clayton Kershaw, one of the team’s favorites, are reportedly close to reaching a contractual agreement to keep their relationship going for an 18th consecutive season after making his debut back in 2008.

In recent seasons, the left-handed pitcher has been the victim of several injuries, which has prevented him from having the consistency that the management, the fans and he himself would like to have. He even missed the entire postseason last year, although that was no impediment to winning his second MLB ring.

What figure could Clayton Kershaw reach with one more season?

The 2014 National League Most Valuable Player and three-time Cy Young Award winner is just 32 strikeouts away from reaching the symbolic figure of 3,000 for his career to enter the Top 20 all-time

Kershaw underwent surgery on his foot and knee in November, from which he has had a successful rehabilitation. The likely deal with sources at ESPN could be reached in the coming days with a one-year contract worth more than $10 million, after he turned down this offer last year, although negotiations are still on the table.

What could prevent you from signing a new contract?

The list of starting pitchers for the Los Angeles Dodgers has expanded significantly in recent months and will have internal competition with Blake Snell, the return of Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Bobby Miller, Tony Gonsolin and Bobby Miller among the most prominent.

Clayton Kershaw returned to training camp at Camelback Ranch, the Dodgers’ preseason complex in the Arizona desert. He only loosened up without speaking to reporters, but his attendance raises speculation about a possible return with the current MLB champion

At 37 years of age, Kershaw has a 212-94 record and a 2.50 ERA in 429 starts and three relief appearances in his career. His 18th season with the Los Angeles Dodgers is latent, but just as the fans have a great affection for him for his love of the team, they also expect him to deliver results when he takes the mound at Dodger Stadium.
