Claressa Shields doubts Amanda Serrano’s chances against Katie Taylor: “You can’t teach an old dog new Tricks”

Claressa Shields has once again escalated her conflict with Amanda Serrano. Two of the greatest female boxers in history have been locked in a long-standing rivalry, and now Shields has delivered another blow-this time, with a bold prediction for Serrano’s upcoming fight against Katie Taylor on July 11.

The dynamic between Shields and Serrano has made headlines repeatedly. While Shields openly admires Serrano and insists she has supported her throughout her career, she never misses the chance to take a jab at her-especially since Serrano signed with Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP).

The Puerto Rican fighter has been more reserved in her remarks about the American boxer, but she often dismisses Shields’ self-proclaimed GWOAT (Greatest Woman of All Time) title. In a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, Shields didn’t hold back, predicting that Serrano will fall short in her upcoming bout.

Will serrano defeat Taylor?

Just days before Serrano and Taylor’s third showdown, Shields confidently stated, “I think Katie will win again.”

Speaking with journalist Marcos Villegas, she elaborated, “From my knowledge, Katie Taylor is the better fighter.”

Shields acknowledged Serrano’s talent but argued she is too set in her ways to secure a win. “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” she remarked. “Not only is she stuck in her ways, but her coaches are stuck in theirs too.” Shields believes this will make it difficult for Serrano to emerge victorious.

In response to Serrano and her team’s claims that they won the first two fights despite the judges awarding both victories to Taylor, Shields was blunt: “If they feel they won the fights, that’s good-but the judges don’t think you won either fight.”

Shields insists she has always supported Serrano

Despite their competitive tension, Shields-the only undisputed champion in three different weight classes in women’s boxing-dismissed any notion of personal animosity toward Serrano.

“Amanda has some underlying issues with me, saying that I downplay her career or whatever she’s talking about,” Shields stated.

While Shields acknowledged Serrano’s impressive accomplishments-including championships in seven different weight classes-she didn’t hold back from throwing shade at Amanda’s promoter, Jake Paul, adding, “I was supporting women’s boxing before Jake Paul or anybody else even came around.”
