Chiefs take step back as overwhelming AFC favorite expected to make Super Bowl ahead of them

The stars seem to be aligning for the Kansas City Chiefs to get revenge for Super Bowl LIX. After getting destroyed by the Philadelphia Eagles in the final game of the season, the Chiefs’ front office got to work and surrounded Patrick Mahomes with most of everything that he needs to get back to the Super Bowl.

Despite the moves and a renewed emphasis on the passing game from head coach Andy Reid, not everyone is fully sold on this being the Chiefs’ year once again. In fact, many analysts aren’t convinced Kansas City has enough to hold off not one, but two AFC rivals.

Baltimore Ravens considered the NFL favorite to make and win Super Bowl LX

Staff from NFL.com and NFL Network were asked to make Super Bowl predictions ahead of the 2025 season. There was an overwhelming favorite and it wasn’t the Chiefs: the Baltimore Ravens led the way with 16 votes to win Super Bowl LX.

Right behind the Ravens were the Buffalo Bills, who came in with five votes. The Chiefs were behind the Bills with three votes. Five other teams got mentions, with one vote apiece.

  • Cincinnati Bengals
  • Denver Broncos
  • Green Bay Packers
  • Los Angeles Rams
  • Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles only being picked by one analyst is certainly surprising. They didn’t lose many key pieces and are still highly considered the most talented team in the league, one season after crushing their competition on their way to a ring.

What stands out is how open many feel the AFC is. Five AFC teams got Super Bowl votes from that conference, as opposed to only three in the NFC. That means many believe Kansas City will have plenty of competition to make it back to The Big Game.
